Ben Arogundade

Ben Arogundade is an award-winning author, journalist, designer, voiceover artist and broadcaster from London. He has written for The Times, The Telegraph, The Guardian, The Evening Standard, Elle, Marie Claire and Creative Review, amongst others. Ben works as a commercial voiceover artist as well as a radio broadcaster for the BBC World Service. His voiceover work includes audiobooks by George Orwell, Charles Darwin, Bernadine Evaristo and many others. His radio series, What Are We Searching For? is available on BBC Sounds. He has collaborated on film and art projects with Marina Abramović, Laurence Fishburne and Idris Elba. Ben’s artwork has been shortlisted for the Royal Academy Summer Exhibition, and his photography has made the finals of the Fine Art Photography Awards. He has written and edited 12 books. His latest, Hollywood Blackout: The Battle for Recognition in a White Hollywood was published in February 2025 by Cassell.  Black Beauty: a History and a Celebration (Thunder’s Mouth Press, 2001) was honoured by the New York Public Library and adapted into a three-part BBC documentary. Arogundade’s My Terrifying, Shocking, Humiliating, Amazing Adventures In Online Dating, is currently being adapted for the screen by Channel 4.
